Day 11: What character would you say you are most like
This one is actually pretty hard. I’m going to have to go with Luna. Luna is odd and individual. She doesn’t care about what other people think of her, she does things to make her happy. She also has a habit of tuning out conversations that don’t interest her. I do that all the time, my dad has to repeat things all the time because I’m just not interested. She also speaks the truth even when it’s awkward for other people, and I am not one to sugar coat things, I say what’s true.
Day 10: Horcruxes or Hallows
Hallows I suppose, only because I don’t think I could kill anyone, but I do wish I could live forever.
This blog will be spoiler free in regards to Deathly Hallows part 2 (or at least properly tagged and under a “read more”) at least through the weekend, possibly longer.
It would be cool if everyone could respect other people’s aversion to spoilers and also tag properly for those who can’t see it at midnight. This is a major moment in some of our lives and, please be respectful.
That is all.
This blog will be spoiler free/properly tagged/under the cute as well.

Day 9: Least favourite male character and why
Peter Pettigrew
I don’t care that he showed a moment of mercy for Harry, he betrayed his best friends to Lord Voldemort, sending them to their death. And honestly I don’t know if that moment would have lead him to actually spare Harry’s life, the hand turned on him before he had the chance to move on from that mercy. He was a coward to whom friendship apparently meant nothing, and I dislike him greatly.
History of Magic or Transfiguration
I’m a history geek, I’m an archaeology major at university and history has always been my favourite subject. I can’t understand why no one (but Hermione, another similarity) finds the subject dull. Even if the teacher is dull to subject my be fascinating and I would love it.
Transfiguration because I love Prof. McGonagall and I think the subject is really interesting.
Day 7: Favourite female character and why?
Hermione Granger, to odd bushy haired bookworm who was more worried about getting expelled than killed.
When I was young I was very shy and I did have very bushy hair. I loved to read and I was smart. Hermione was my first hero. She was just like me, she rolled her eyes and glared when Ron said something stupid and spent all of her free time in the library. She was me, and she was amazing, she was brave and smarter than I thought I was, head of her class and lauded on by the teachers. As we both grew up we did become different. She cared much more about grades than I ever did, she never hesitated to volunteer and answer in class while I remained much too shy to answer unless I was 200% certain my answer was correct, but she never stopped being my hero, and she still is to this day, brave, loyal, and intelligent to the end.
I chose this young picture of Emma because that’s the girl I was when I was little, by hair was frizzy and curly, I always had a book with me (and still do) and to remind myself that this adorable little girl grew up to help save the Wizarding world.
Day 6: What house you want to be in
I am a member of Slytherin House and love being a Slytherin. We’re cunning, clever, and ambitious. We’re not always nice, but we are brave, but not stupid. We are not all pure evil nor are we all Deatheaters.
According to tests online I generally test as a combination of Ravenclaw and Slytherin but I identify with Slytherin. I have been know and “the smart one” for the majority of my childhood and I am done with it, yes I am intelligent but that’s not all I am, and I choose not to define myself solely by my IQ.
Day 5: Favourite male character and why
Cheating because I can
Severus Snape and Remus Lupin
Remus Lupin was probably the first man I loved and I will eventually write up a post just about him, but for now I’ll give you an overview. He’s kind, so so kind. And he is amazingly selfless, he doesn’t want to be with Tonks because he thinks he’s “too old…too poor, too dangerous” and he honestly believes that, even though he obviously has feelings for her as well. He acts as a father figure to Harry and teaches him how to create a Patronus. He watched his best school friends die around him and still was able to love Tonks and fight tirelessly for the Order. One of the most interesting things about him is his boggart. He fears himself the most. Instead of being a spider or loved ones dying he is afraid of the thing he becomes at the full moon, and this breaks my heart. He is hated because of something he could never control, or had any choice in.
Severus Snape was the only character who ever challenged my Lupin for favourite character. Prior to The Deathly Hallows I trusted him because Dumbledore trusted him and Dumbledore was the greatest good wizard ever, if he could find it to forgive Snape and give him a second chance so could I. I also found it interesting that he didn’t, like the other members of his house, mock people for their blood status, he learned from his worst mistake. He did mock for ability but honestly so have I, and if that makes me a horrible person, so be it. But, unlike Malfoy, he never called Hermione “mudblood”, “insufferable know-it-all” but never “mudblood”. After The Prince’s Tale I fell in love with him. He was amazing and good, and he loved Lily. Everything he did was because he loved her. He risked everything to keep her son safe. I chose to buy a replica of his wand when I visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter because he is an amazingly complex character and I loved him. I have a long post pertaining to him here
Day 4: Least favourite female character and why
Dolorus Umbridge
While rereading Order of the Phoenix I was reminded just how much I loathed this woman. Everyone yelled at Harry for not keeping his temper and telling her that Voldemort was back, but I think he kept his temper in check much better than I ever could. He does manage to not yell at her during every class and I don’t think I could have stopped my self. I found myself gritting my teeth while reading her smug little remarks. I wanted to yell and scream at her for being such a rude idiot.
I really wish I could say no to this question, but unfortunately I have severe issues with the 5th and 6th movies.
I think the 5th movie is far too rushed for the longest book. I feel like they simply say all the Educational Decrees and hurry along through the plot. After rereading Order of the Phoenix recently I just remember how much information is in that book. It is a massive 870 pages crammed into 138 minutes. I feel like a lot of the characters were lost to the time limit, it really is an amazing book and I wish they could have done it more justice. I never actually got around to seeing it in theatres and I’ve only seen it maybe twice so I can’t remember very many specifics, but I do not like it.
I have even more issues with the 6th movie. Half Blood Prince is probably my second favourite book and I honestly think the movie was terrible. My favourite scene in that book is the scene in the hospital wing when we all find out Tonks is in love with Remus. I memorized it when it first came out and I can still recite about 2/3 of it rapid fire if I feel like it (apparently I did this while I was drunk once, but that’s not important) and they cut it out completely. I was furious, so angry that I almost boycotted the next movie, I was that upset. Tonks is also a brilliant character and I think she is marginalized, along with Remus in movies 5 and 6. She barely has any lines and I’m not particularly fond of the actress they chose to portray her. Nothing against her, I just don’t think she’s very Tonks. And while we’re on the subject of Tonks, she’s supposed to have SHORT PINK hair, do you know how rare it is to have a female character with short hair who isn’t a lesbian? As a non-lesbian female with very short hair I have a soft spot for those characters and they changed that in the movies. Right, back to the 6th movie. I think they took out too much of the memories, the majority of the book is focused on Voldemort’s childhood and we saw very little of that. Also, Ginny hid his potions book so how does he know where to find the diadem? Too much humour was added that it lost a lot of it’s darker nature that I liked about it. But apart from that (and a few other issues I can’t remember, I’ve only seen it twice and it’s been ages since the last time) it’s a great movie. /sarcasm.
